Why product shots are a good fit
Packaged goods, apparel on a hanger, and simple still-life objects have a clear subject and a boring backdrop — exactly what matting models are trained on. You do not need a clipping path in Photoshop for every SKU if the edge is a bottle, a box or a shoe.
Where it still struggles: chrome reflections, smoke, and products shot against a busy patterned tablecloth. Then either reshoot on a plain wall or use the mask brush to tidy the edge.
A practical listing workflow
- Photograph on a plain surface. Even a bedsheet beats a cluttered desk.
- Drop the images onto CleanBG together — they queue locally.
- Preview on transparent, then switch to white if your marketplace wants a white background.
- Crop to subject if the original framing is loose.
- Export PNG for design tools, JPG (white fill) for marketplaces that dislike transparency, or a ZIP of the batch.

Colour backgrounds
Marketplaces often demand pure white (#FFFFFF). Ads sometimes want the brand colour. CleanBG can composite either at export time, so you are not flattening in a second app. JPEG export automatically sits on white if you leave the background transparent — JPEG cannot store alpha.
When to stay in Photoshop
Keep the heavy tools for jewellery close-ups, glass bottles with caustics, or composite scenes with multiple overlapping objects. For the other 90% of a catalogue, a local pass is enough — and the files never leave the shop laptop.
